Stargazer Observatory
by astrophotographer Dr. Dietmar Hager
Dr. Dietmar Hager has been interested in astronomy since his earliest youth.
He runs his own observatory near Linz and spends many hours producing impressive astro-images of galaxies and nebulae, which he shows in his lectures.

Dietmar Hager’s latest project is the Sternwerkstatt, with which he has set himself the goal of bringing people closer to the magic of the universe. The pop-up gallery of the same name in the Linzerie is open from October 23, 10 am. It features exhibits that capture the starry sky to take home with you.
Since November 12, Dr. Hager’s first book “Vom Zauber der Sterne und dem Ende der Nacht” has also been presented there. We would like to invite you to join us!

Our offer
Dr. Dietmar Hager | Physician and astrophotographer
Dr. Dietmar Hager has two passions: health and the stars. As a specialist in hand and microsurgery, he runs his own practice in Linz. He also works as an astrophotographer and spends hours creating new, breathtaking astrophotos.
Dr. Hager then presents these recordings in his 3D lectures in Deep Space Live at the Ars Electronica Center in Linz or in his visually stunning infotainment shows at various events.
For good astrophotos, the astrophotographer must fulfill three points above all…
He needs good equipment, thorough planning and the right shooting technique. The location and the weather also play a major role.
The best photos are taken under clear skies in dark, secluded locations where there is as little artificial light as possible to interfere with the long exposure shots.
Camera settings, lens and tripod must be chosen carefully.
And another thing is needed: patience.
Dr. Dietmar Hager talks about the origins of the universe, explains how galaxies and stars develop and presents complex astronomical relationships in a visual and easy-to-understand way.
His astronomical infotainment shows are an experience for young and old, big and small, simply for everyone.

His expertise is based on more than 25 years of lecturing,
international image publications, publications in educational videos and textbooks on astronomy, radio and television interviews and many years of collaboration with NASA and ESA.
